FWIW, I'm on my 4th set of front and 2nd set of rear pads in
15,000 km on the Speedmachine.

I reckon a cheap but new car might come out a bit like this
per month:

Lease & Maintenance £275.00 (or finance, depreciation
& maint) Tax £15.00 Fuel £58.50 Parking £10.00
Insurance £40.00

ie in the region of 400 ukp per month.

Not sure how to cost a bike but, say 360 ukp bike written
off over 3 years would be 10 ukp per month for the bike.
Say, 5 ukp for maintenance. If you throw in a bit of
contribution for waterproofs cycling clothes, you're still
going to come in at under 20 ukp per month.
