Finally, after 7 years - I bought a new computer through parts from Newegg.com through their Black Friday Sale! Saved $80 from later prices 2 weeks later. $50 more if rebates go through! It's a great enough system that I could afford on savings and unemployment. I'll brag about it in another thread, but here's quick specs -

XFX Geoforce 260 Core 216 Black Edition Overclocked
6gb OCZTechnolgy DDR3 10666 [not XMP so I can max memory to 12gb!]
Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard
i7 Core 920 CPU
KWorld PCI HD 120 internal TV card
Seagate 1.5 TB Barracuda
Antec Truepower Trio 650
Antec 900 Game case
Level1 Wireless G usb plug Vista64 capable
Kingwin KF-2000-BK removeable hard drive tray
Samsung 22x DVD Burner SATA2
Vista Home Premium OEM SP1 64bit

After building it up and running, I am amazed at the mega web browsing I can do! Doesn't crash or freeze up my system from more than 17+ sets of tabbed browsers! - Uses around 3.5 to 4 gb of memory at this level, so if you get a new PC like this - have 6gb of memory!

Ok, I ran into some problems installing or running old video games, but people in other forums said patch the games up and they will work. - This did happen on Age of Empires 3 and Civilization 4 - and they work so great maxxed out video settings at 1900 x 1200 on a 24" LCD monitor! Even Crysis maxxed out but no AA plays smooth and no jitters at 1900 x 1200 maxxed settting [about 34 fps from FRAPS].

The problem with Vista 64 - your old devices may not work. Like my old printer [Canon iP5000] and scanner [Cannon N1220U] don't work because they didn't make new drivers for them yet [official ones from Cannon].

But Vista 64 is coming up mainstream! I see lots of new desktops coming with Vista 64 and 6gb of memory! Yeah! The computing world should progress to 64bit!

After running Vista 64 SP1 for a month, I love it and have very few gripes against it! Maybe I missed all the bad stuff / gripes by waiting for SP1! What are your gripes or likes about Vista SP1?

Ok, you gotta keep your old system for using old devices...

There's too much bad hype about Vista, but I actually love it!
