I Just Talked To My Surgeon....................

I had my labs drawn on May 3rd and am doing it again the first of Aug.
Every three months. All was fine. They did the CBC w/diff, metabolic
panel, kidney tests such as BUN and creatnine, Liver function tests
etc, U/A etc.
Thanks for your concern

What makes you think he hasn't supplemented his formal education with
additional reading, continual education, and conferences?

Check. And Robert Aktins was just a cardiologist. Some
read about nutrition, some don't.

Wouldn't the specialty of cardiology (and cardiac
surgery) in itself mean that nutritional education
has to be included, probably similar to
gerentology and endocrinology?

Should keep up vs actually does keep up depends on the
individual doctor.

Dr A was taught to prescribe a low fat diet to his patients
so he did. In time he noticed that could could stay on
it even risking death, and that many who managed to stay
on had their blood numbers get worse. That's when he
started searching for an alternative. That alternative
was low carb. Weight loss was incidental to the improved
blood numbers for his heart patients. That launched him
on his low carb career.

Incidently, that's one of two stories of how he got
involved in low carb. The other is that he as getting
fatter and he tried low carbing on itself. When it
worked he wrote it up and that launched him on his low
carb career. Notice that the two stories aren't in
conflict. I think both stories are true and the
combination of them is what gave him so much conviction.
