my bike is a mix and match. it has sacks ergo shifters campy hubs. I have to use a shimano rd. I
just bought a new cogset a 12t-28t campy cogset. I will replace the shims on the new with the old.
but the problem is the cage is a bit bent on the shimano 600 that's on there. so I would like to
replace it. but it's hard to find the right rd that can handle 28t. I want a medium to higher end
shimano rd any idea's?

Ultegra?? Either the double or triple will work just fine and dandy-not hard to find.

There's nothing "hard to find" about this.

_Any_ Shimano rear derailer made since 1997 will work for your application.

Use a shimano MTB derailleur. Lots of choices from dirt cheap to way expensivie. Lots of derailleurs
in-between too.

If it worked with a Shimano derailleur before, *any* Shimano derailleur *except* pre-9-speed
Dura-Ace will work now. Something like a Shimano or Ultegra would work with the 28t cog.

Citybikes probably has what you need- although the good, used, high-end stuff goes pretty quick. If
you can wait a couple weeks, the PUMP swapmeet is coming up:

Sure the cage is bent and not the tab? Tough to bend a cage, easy to bend a tab. Phil Brown

I use a 1993 short cage shimano xtr derailleur on my old runaround mix and match bike, i have a
12-28 7sp rear shimano cassette with campy, onza and biopace rings up front, it indexes well and
handles a 28t rear cog no problem, but i thought a 28t cog was a common size and thought 99per cent
of rear derailleurs would cope well with such a size cog ?? must have been wrong though.

AFAIK anything will work with 28T. I use a 105 RD with an 11-28 cassette on the mountain bike.

it was a used derailleur and was already bent.

I had a hard time finding a 28t campy cogset. 27 was not too hard.
