Turned on the TdF prologue today and the wife and kids
seemed interested in following the race. Problem is, I know
very little about road racing strategy (breakaways,
drafting, etc). So, in order to be able to answer their
questions and be able to at least *sound* like I know what
I'm talking about, I need to study a basic discussion of the
things we're going to see in the TdF coverage.

Anybody got a link to something that'd work?

Mark

Don't try to "sound" as though you understood the methods of
bicycle racing or you'll lose credibility when your ruse is
discovered... which it will no doubt. Don't try to live up
to the old saw "father knows best." It's easy to say "I
don't know" and gives things you know about and explain
greater credibility.

Most of this is obvious to young people who ride in groups
where some riders are naturally faster than others and there
is the usual and natural competitive urge. This includes
drafting, taking flyers, making a break from a group and
climbing hills.

Pick up Lance's first book "It's not about the Bike" and
give it a quick read (it should only take 2 days or so)...it
gives you a lot of insights into the Tour and it's etiquette
and bike racing techniques in general.

basic race strategy)

Bill "not a whole lot of strategy in today's Prologue --
just ~7+ minutes of pain!" S.
