I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes by november of 2002 (fasting reading of 240 mg and ten days
after another fasting of 208...). Then, I lost about 90 pounds (1.78m height, actually 210 pounds).
I stopped dieting -really tired- and now I watch my weight carefully (I don´t want to change it by
now). Since I stopped dieting I started measuring my BG (I did not measure while dieting since it
was a very intense diet and doctor said not to be worried about measuring). Well, I think my
readings are ok - even for non-diabetic people. Fasting readings: never lower than 71 mg but always
near this value. 2 hour (after meals): anything between 71 and 80, don´t matter if it was salad or
pasta. 1 hour readings: the highest reading I got was 95, but the most common are from 80 to 90.
This readings include 3 or 4 meals based in pasta or pizza and I did not get the higher readings in
these meals - the readings of 95 were after barbecue. Can these results mean that keeping control of
my weight (plan to lose more 10 pounds but very slowly) and keeping walking (fast) 1 hour a day will
give me "normal" health for years? (That´s my doctor beliefs... he said that maybe I will only need
medicine in about 20 years if I keep watching my weight and exercising - I´m 39 now.

Hi Alan!
You've done very well with your food and exercise.
Yes. The hope is that by controlling your glucose levels with your food and exercise plan, you will
be able to live a long healthy diabetic life.I hope that for you.
Keep up the great work!

Hi Alan
Welcome - but looking at those readings I'm not sure you need to be here. Unless your meter is
incorrectly calibrated you haven't had a reading indicating diabetes since nov 2002.I'm not a medic so maybe someone else can ask the right questions to clarify that.
In any case, there can't be anything wrong with your English; you spell your name properly :-)

You mean that he can eat pasta and pizza and still get 70's? Is that what I'm reading?
