  1. These are very good pickles. It takes a long time to make them, but they
    are worth the time. Helen

    Icicle Pickles:

    1 gallon cucumbers
    2 quarts boiling water
    1 cup salt

Cut cucumbers in strips, add boiling water and salt, let stand 1 week.
Drain, then pour over the cucumbers 2 quarts boiling water and let stand
24 hours. Drain, then pour over the cucumbers 2 quarts boiling water and
alum the size of 1/2 egg, let stand 24 hours. Drain, boil 1 1/4 quart
vinegar, 4 pints sugar, and 1/2 hand full of mixed pickleing spices. Pour
over cucumbers and let stand 24 hours. Drain and reheat vinegar mixture 4
more mornings. Pour vinegar mixture back on cucumbers each morning. Put in
jars and can the 4th morning.

This is an old time recipe as you can tell by the measurements of the
ingredients, but very good. Enjoy!! [email hidden]
