ideal water temperature

I think most indoor, competition pools are in the low to mid 70's.

Once you begin your swim, it doesn't take too long to warm up. My rule has
always been, if wetsuits are allowed, why would you NOT wear one?

And most public multi-use pools, which also have "open" swim and water
aerobics, are 78-80 because those people don't generate as much heat and
they complain very vocally if they think the water is cold.
