Please Help! I'm trying to find out all I can about two bikes I'm working on.

One is a yellow & black, all steel, Nottingham, England, 10 speed, Raleigh "Record" from 1970 (I think) and has Huret Alvit deraileurs, Altenburger brakes, leather seat, steel cottered crank, 36 spoke wheels, and racing style bars.

Questions: #1 - Rare? #2 - Where in the world is the serial number located? # 3 - What can I do to go to a cotterless alloy crank? #4 - Can anyone tell me anything else I should know about this one?

The second 10 speed bike model name is "Medalist II" and has alloy wheels, "SR" alloy bars (straight style), cotterless alloy crank, Raleigh brake handles and is silver in color.

Questions: #1 - Rare? #2 - Where is the serial number located? # 3 - Name and country of manufacturer? #4 - Can anyone tell me anything else I should know about this one?

Thanx ... Ken.

This is my own reply, to check out how this thread works and to say that the Medalist frame is steel.
