Because we have run out of new ideas for how to shoot each other, it is decided by majority vote that all future International conflicts will be decided by the World Leaders of the involved Nations going one-on-one in the Boxing Ring.
It can be Presidents, Prime Ministers, Emporers or whatever but, in keeping with the idea of bringing culture to the masses, they must appear in their national dress.
Who will the new World Superpowers be? Apologies for the brief selection on offer.

Thank god Idi Amin is dead. Pitty Paddy Ashdown never made it to PM, I figure he'd have a few tricks up his sleeve - on the basis that he disarmed and immobilized a knife-wielding Maniac all by himself. :)

One of the great things that will come from this is a change in Politician demographics in nations which have a democratically-selected government. Future World Leaders will be voted into office based on their pugilistic ability to jab and feign, rather than their ability to ******** the masses.
Left-leaning nations, as I understand it, will be referred to as South-paws, rather than Socialists.

i would like to see Chirac step into the ring with Bush...

in the UK Blair would be useless...but if old two Jags Prescott becomes PM you better watch out...be packs a mean right hand.

i would like to see anyone give Howard (Aus) a beating in the boxing ring just because i dont like the guy...

if this were the way things were settled then you would be sure that the world would be run by the likes of Tyson, Foreman etc...its like Bush and Blair, they are purely front men with no ability to actually to influence the back room politics of thier country...puppets.

When Saddam challenged Bush to slug it out one to one, his challenge was based on genuine historical experience.
It was common for the Romans to choose one Seantor who would go out and slug it out with a single Gaul to avoid the need to fight a pitched battle. The most famous case was when a Roman by the name of M. Valerius fought a Gaul and came out for the fight with a crow perched on his left arm. During combat, the crow also attacked the Gaul with its talons.
The Romans would have rejected Bush as a coward for not accepting Saddam's challenge.

Ahhh...you can't compare the ideaology of honor among men from the Roman times to now. Men would just assume sue you than "taking it outside"...and besides there is no honor among thieves for both Bush and Saddam. I wish it was like the days of the Romans where each army went to the battlefield and each king agreed to allow their strongest fighter to determine the outcome.

Bush comes off very bady when compared with the emperor Hadrian. Hadrian spoke Greek, studied maths, geometry, painting, philosophy and oratory, while being able to fight as a gladiator. Hadrian was also skilled in military sciences and built the famous wall in Britain (to keep barbarians such as Bush out of the Roman side of the wall).
When Hadrian started a war he would be out there with the troops on the field.
No sign of Bush, though, in Iraq and he refers to the Greeks as "Grecians".

Your worst nightmare has returned.

Bush would have been expelled from Caledonia into the land of the Englishmen years ago...well before the Romans decided to build thier wall.

Actually he would have been slaughtered by the english for fun...we scots were not that barbaric..

Is it too late to go ahead with that plan?

the slaughter of Bush?....well his international reputation (if he ever had one) has been slaughtered already....yeah put him in the boxing ring with 5 bellies Prescott...

this is how our politicians deal with protestors out on the campaign trail...

he is a handsome devil isnt he?

My tuppence worth : Mr. Black Belt himself, Vlad "I really am bad" Putin.

He's got to be the favourite in any political wrestling/boxing match.

Prescott may have the weight advantage but Vlad "I really am bad" Putin is where my moneys going.

Yep, he carries the weight and stance of a contender. Some of the Taiwanese Poli's were showing good Jab / Jab / Hook combinations a couple of years ago, but I fear they don't carry the weight to hold their own in a 15 rounder.
Putin, as you say, Lim, is in fine fettle. You can knock the KGB for many things, but their training camps were among the best the World has seen. Watch out for him distracting the Ref.
I'm not sure that he'll take it to the top, but Old Favourite, King Taufa'ahau Topau IV of Tonga is certain to take out some of the featherweights in the early matches. He may be 87, but his 444lb base is rock solid. As long as he can stand some early hits, that right haymaker is a force to be reckoned with. His fights have always made good television and there'll certainly be plenty of the older fans wishing him well.

Charles Taylor is another one to watch out for. He's carrying good form at the moment but, since his ouster from Liberia, it is unclear whether he will be allowed to represent his current home of Nigeria. UN Boxing Federation delegates are currently debating whether he meets the terms and will be allowed in the Ring. Tough times for himself and his economist wife, Jewel.

I think it would be fun to put Bush in with Tyson in his prime and then lay odds on how many minutes of the first round Bush could survive.

Have you been watching Stallone and Sugar Ray's Contender series? Stallone still looks in good shape and is considering doing a Rocky Six movie.
I also heard Stallone and his mother Jackie haven't been speaking for some time since Sly was furious she appeared in the Big Brother show over here with Brigitte Nielson.
