I often here how immigrants (especially muslims and arabs) can't assimilate into U.S. culture. I don't take this as fact, but if I did, what is U.S. culture? Craving for Kim Kardashian stories, Teen pregnancy's, a lack of educational progress and the highest incarceration rate in the world? Meanwhile many immigrants come here and have successful businesses a after a few years, work the job that people born here were to lazy to take, in universities becoming doctors, scientist, etc... Many hospital staffs are filled with arab immigrants or second generation ones.

But on this forum......."They smell like onions" is all the debate capable of the rocket scientist here. Next time you see John down the street whining because he didn't get a car for his 16 birthday and you see a Mexican biking, walking, etc... Ask yourself if they are all "vampiric leeches".

I'll say something positive about illegal Mexicans. They drive really careful. When I am on my bike out around the rich horse farms in my area that "employ" illegals, said illegals stop and wait for me to pass while driving their boss' pickup. Real polite. Considering they are driving illegally

BTW, my first degree, so many years ago, had nothing to do with filling my brain with the vast database of cycling lore, mechanical expertise and general knowledge that I've accumulated. It was in history/poly sci. And it taught me some valuable truisms.

The most valuable being: Don't repeat the mistakes that were made by stupid people that went before you.

Just simply stating the fact that I've earned the education that I wanted and could care less about a spelling error. education is not about spelling perfectly. -I think in terms of education, the united states has the greatest resources, but they aren't available to or utilized by all. I am not saying Americans are stupid, just saying some immigrants take education more seriously. I agree with you that we need to "cull out" students for certain jobs/careers. As a high school student, I didn't take my education seriously at all. It was only after my first year of college that I attached myself to a goal. I'm not saying were all dummies, saying that not all immigrants are either
