Newer to cycling. I'm 6'1" 199 lbs. I have been cycling for three months and put on about 500 miles. My average pace is roughly 17.5 mph. So I cycling because I like it but I also need to lose. weight. I lost about 12 lbs without changing my diet but now I am always hungry. I cycle 3 times a week. Normal?

I did some Google searching for you and found these sites I think you should read and try doing what they suggest; see:

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/always-hungry-5-reasons-143209

https://tunedintocycling.com/2013/09/27/cycling-and-weight-loss-part-3-exercise-make-you-hungry/

This one is my problem, I can't extract protein from plants to keep my cycling up so meat is the only thing I can eat for protein that works, I even had licensed nutritionist help with a vegan diet and after 9 mnths I gave up and went back to meat and never looked back, anyway see: http://rossmalpass.co.uk/always-hun...et-leaner-and-youll-probably-ride-better-too/

I hope you find something on those sites that will help you.

Yea, I think it's pretty normal. You are burning more calories and increasing your metabolic rate...which increases your appetite. I'm constantly hungry during high volume or intensity training blocks. The key is to eat enough to fuel yourself properly while losing weight (since that is also your goal).

Try drink high protein drinks and shakes during runs in addition to what you're eating. This would give your body additional fuel to burn. You'll also feel lighter and more energized.
