When I was a kid, I rode my bike to school from fifth grade on. However, I have heard that most school districts forbid kids to ride to school. (And then they wonder why more and more kids are fat! This goes to show you that adults aren't necessarily smart, and growing up doesn't mean that you learn all the answers.)

Question--how many of you ride to school? How many of those who do not are in school systems that forbid, or discourage, it? If you were allowed, would you? Have you tried to get the school authorities to change the rule? If so, how? Did it work?

Yeah i ride to school, my college allows it. But all the primary schools in the area (5) disallow. I don't know why. If a parent lets a kid ride, let 'em ride. Trying to talk to schools doesn't work. It seems as if your always at the back of the line.

The elementary schools here dont allow it but all of the others do.
I don't ride to school, but we can and there are a slight few who do. But with cars and that, there isn't really a need to.

I ride almost every day. Biking to school is so fun:)! Me and about 5 other friends all ride together. Theres a ton of jumps, trails, amd singletrack around are school area. In my opinion , More people should ride to school.

We were allowed to ride our bikes to school when I was a kid, but this area was pretty rural back then. I don't think that our school system forbids a child to ride a bike to school but they certainly discourage it as they provide no bike racks or suitable facilities for locking them up. But the traffic around here is horrendous in the mornings. I guess that they also need to justify the school bus budget somehow too. Concerning obese children, have you seen how much homework they pile on these poor kids anymore. They don't have any time to go outside and play. I think the teachers pile on the homework as their "answer" to falling test scores, but I think that it is just poor teaching to begin with.

It's all about legal ramifications. If the young person rides to skewl, and they get plowed by a car, the school could be sued for allowing the person - or encouraging the person - to ride a bike. If they did - the insurance for the skewl would go through the rafters.

When I was in 1st Grade, we had an eye test. I have a hereditary condition called Monocular Vision. They made their idiot test show that I was blind. So the officials told me I was blind and could not attend their skewl. Then I was told to get my coat and hat and walk home down the busy road - as the Blind Kid.

Pretty smart, eh?

It took my opthamologist a week to explain monocular-vision to these geniuses. If I was blind - good chance I'd have been run over on my way home to tell my Mom - "I'm Blind!"

i can ride to school but i have to be up so early and that and id want a shower because i cant help but go fast. my school allows it but you have to stick by certain guidelines and pass a little test thing itll be really basic stuff

While I dont ride my bike to my highschool I ride it home almost everyday, I'm so glad my school allows it:D! Unfortunately it is discouraged so I am one of the few cyclists at my school:(. Also the amount of physicaly fit people in my area is declining partly because students dont have time now days to excersise. Mostly because of the outrageous amounts of homework we are assigned and by the time we finish it we're too exhausted to do anything that requires moving our bodies!
Yet the powers that be have the nerve to chide us for it, its not like we can do anything about it they need to do something about it they're the ones that push it on us. I'm not saying that they need to stop homework altogether but for goodness sake they could at least bump it to under 3 hours a night!

He is clear in what He asks and clear in what He offers. The choice is up to us.Isn't it incredible that NY Escort God leaves the choice up to us? Think about it. There are many things in life we can't choose. We can't, for NY Escorts example, choose the weather. We can't control the economy. We can't choose whether or not we are NY Asian Escorts born with a big nose or blue eyes or a lot hair. We can't even choose how people respond to us. But we NY Asian Escort can choose where we spend eternity.

I never had a problem when I was in school. I would have biked to school if I had time to bike 10 miles in the morning. Most of the teachers at my school actually encouraged students to bike to save gas.
