In preparation for the upcoming off-season I plan on spending a lot of time on a trainer. I have a used and abused trainer that was given to me years ago and I'm thinking it's due for a replacement. Problem is, I really don't know if I want the good ol' "clamp the rear wheel in, elevate the front a bit and ride away" type, or one with rollers for all wheels (requiring the concentration of balancing so that you don't accidentally rocket yourself into the wall).

What advantages do you all see between the two? I'm thinking I want something I can set up in the garage where I can ride for an hour or so in front of a little TV several times a week. Any preferences for a brand? Any notorious for poor quality?
