information on sixfoot track marathon

I'll travelling to Sydney in a couple of weeks and planning to run the six foot track marathon.
Could anyone give some advise on how to approach this run. I've run 10 marathons, 8 of which were
around 4:00 hours (3:53-4:15). I train on the flats, so hills are a bit of concern. Have been using
treadmill, bridge overpasses and stairmaster as substitute for hills. Any suggestions on how to pace
this course. Also some suggestions on shoes. I am planning on running in Mizuno Alchamy's...any
issues that the trail surface might bring up? Thanks

Your pace should be very conservative. Given a 3:53 marathon PB and limited specific preparation
you'll be doing very well to break 6 hours and if you have problems the 7 hour cutoff will loom.

You've got to get to the Pluviometer at 26km in good condition. This will mean walking much of the
big climbs. Its also means you should take the downhills, particularly early on, gently.

The Alchemys should be fine. I'll be running in ASICs 2080s. The majority of runners use road
training shoes. Some of the faster runners use light-weight trainers/flats. Don't seem to be many
runners who use specialist trail shoes.

Its possible we'll get warm conditions for the race. Its been a very hot and humid February in
Sydney. The weather has improved in the last week but 30+C is still possible race day. Hopefully
won't happen.

Thanks..this is very helpful..your race report from last year was a great help. I'll fight my
tendancy to go with gravity during the early stages and hopefully will finish within the window.
