How tight do I tighten pedals into a crankarm? Until it stops? Very tight?
Is it possible to use a torque wrench with this?

According to Park Tool Co., Typical torque for pedal thread is about 360 inch-pounds. With a foot long wrench, that is about 30 pounds of effort.

Someone like "Bourdy" can give you the definitive answer, but unitl he wakes up......

I use a ~22cm open end 15mm wrench that gives me plenty of torque.
A pedal obviously has to pretty tight, but not crazy tight. I hold the rear brakes on while I tighten the last bit. Don't go crazy tightening them because the cranks are only aluminum and the pedal spindle/shaft/axle thingy is hard steel, and anyway, the rotation of the cranks during riding is supposed work against the direction of the pedal thread to keep the pedals tight.

I've never had a pedal come loose.

Put some grease on the thread of the pedals, as this reduces the chance of the pedal "fusing" to the crank should any corrosion occur.

Don't forget the right pedal screws in normally, and the left pedal has a left handed thread.
