im looking into a new bike (have been for a few months now) and am starting to realise that the quality bike that i want is too expensive:eek: (im sure you've all been there). I've been looking into some options other than that and i know i dont want a used bike. My other option was to buy a new frame and slowly replace the individual parts and components. However, the bike i currently have is a 650 and, one of the reasons im looking to get a new bike, im looking for a 700. I know i have to get new wheels to fit the bike but can the gears and brakes be switched between the two?

It depends. The FD may not fit the new frame. If you have an 8 or 9 speed shimano casette it will fit a new shimano compatible wheel. Bottom backet will fit if threading is the same. Brakes work with either 650 or 700.Seatpost may not fit.Rear derailer and crank no issue.
