Alas, not a record. Many years ago we ran a flying 200m sprint, in which my
grate frend gNick was automagically timed at 145 mph. This after John
Lafford had already equalled the then world record of 65.5 mph.

It was later established that unexpected[1] bursts of sunshine were
confusing the timing gear.

1 - it was, after all, in Wolverhampton...

Looks like I'm in for another trip to Aldi/Lidl/Netto soon ...

Not on the website yet, but the poster in Aldi today
was advertising bike stuff next week - including a
computer IIRC.

pah, kids stuff. My new wired bc, which replaced my faulty wireless one,
though it appears ok for most things, has reported my max speed at 570mph or
thereabouts several times. Obviously, I wasnt doing anything more than
400mph.

I discovered that keeping my Cateye wireless computer in too close
proximity to my mobile phone racked up some very high top speeds.

The website has now been updated - there are two cycle computers, a
wireless one with heart rate monitor for £13, and a bog-standard one
for £4. Various other useful bits and bobs as well - clothing, inner
tubes, etc.
