Is this a Raleigh?

Hi guys, I'm from Singapore and planning to build a SS roadie for general commuting purposes. Wanted something cheap, so I went out to find for old roadies, and some guy came to me with what he claims to be an old repainted Raleigh. I would just like to check if it is really a Raleigh, even if it's not I'll still probably be buying the bike from him anyways... the tube joints look quite familiar but the only Raleigh's I've seen have been through the computer screen. Hope you guys can help, thanks.

Here's the picture he sent me:

He says it's around 54cm. Not sure if that's too small for me, i'm 1.7m (roughly 5ft 5-6"). Only problem is that i'm a heavy guy, heh.

It does look like a Raleigh, but it also looks a lot like an old Trek frame. Awfully hard to tell one from another without a close examination.

Check this site, too: http://retroraleighs.com/

In any case, it looks like a decent frame. What groupset and wheelset are on it and how much does he want? Have you ridden it?

Nope, haven't rode it yet, would be doing so sometime this week. Has older 105 components now when he did an upgrade a year back so i think it should still be able to take a few more miles till i do the conversion. He's letting go for S$300 which is somewhere around 170USD. From what i've seen from the forums, the price is pretty steep, but it's kinda hard to find this kinda stuff over here in Singapore.

105 is a decent group. If it has good tires and rides okay, I'd say that's a little high but not outrageous.

If it was me, I'd flip the stem back over.
