I've just broken my bike, please help...

I just unscrewed the allen screw at the top of my bar stem, there was a sound like something dropped inside the stem... if I hold the bike upside down and poke my finger up the stem I can feel a rim and past that the nut... how do I re-assemble this? I can't figure it out at all.

Any advice would be helpful atm... I wanted to ride tomorrow...

Sounds like a threaded quill type stem and you unscrewed things far enough to completely disengage and drop the wedge or expander plug. Pull the stem out,turn the mess upside down and if you are lucky it will just fall out. If you mess with the big headset nuts,you will hose the adjustment.
