Does anyone know anything about S R bicycles? I got one for free and I don't know anything about them. A web search provides little info. They were made in Japan in the 80's, they had shimano groupsets and had 27' wheels. any info at all would be helpful. Thanks!!

Sakae Ringyo Ltd./Suntour bikes were considered low-end to mid-market if considering the top model in the line. While the frames were usually meh, the components often functioned better and lasted longer than equivalent European models.

Collector values are still low unless the model in question is a top-of-the-line, mint, unmolested example and even then the prices flag when compared to high-end European bikes.

As you may have read, S.R. is long gone.

Thanks Bob, that's kind of what I figured. This bike is far from mint condition. It is salvageable but needs serious cleaning and a paint job. I think I might take it apart and re-build it out of some spare stuff I've got laying around. Thanks again for the input.
