Since it's not currently possible to post this to DPF at the moment, last year the member "jellotrip" on DPF revealed that he was Canadian wheelchair athlete Jeff Adams, who had been suspended for a somewhat bizarre doping violation. (why this was on a cycling forum ...think about it - similar wheels on bikes as on racing wheelchairs). Anyway, his doping suspension was overturned by CAS , which probably gives hope to Landis supporters in that CAS might actually overturn a doping suspension (even though IMO the cases were entirely different).

and FWIW, Adams is actually a somewhat well-known name in Canada, at least for those who pay attention to the Olympics/sports other than hockey, probably because he's been around for a while (so gets the "didn't we see him at the last Olympics?" effect) plus did a lot of motivational speaking until this episode kind of interrupted that.

IIRC, Landaluze had his testosterone doping case overturned by CAS for exactly one of the reasons Landis has tried to use to get his dismissed. So it's not like riders can't win. Although I think in Landis' case his gripe isn't legit whereas it clearly was in Landaluze's. Not that I don't think Landaluze wasn't probably doping and just got lucky to get off on a technicality.

Thank you, confusedfan, for bringing this interesting case to us. Never heard about it. Almost a ferry tale. A limited-capacity, wheelchair athlete is forced by a drunk witch to swallow cocaine.

It appears CAS is more lenient than WADA when applying the principle of strict liability.

IIRC, the Landaluze case was about the laboratory procedure. The panel wrote down: the acquittal did not mean he did not dope. Rather, handling of A and B samples by the same technician was a problem?

which probably gives hope to Landis supporters in that CAS might actually overturn a doping suspension (even though IMO the cases were entirely different).
Right. Wasn’t Floyd Landis CAS case reviewed by a complete different panel? It’s more about moral connection than anything else.

doesn't count when its for a spastic. think floyd was a bit spastic. he couldn't speak properly. bit like the austrian cellar children. was floyd inbreed?
