Spoke to a mate today - who has a mate that was recently dazzled by an overseas website offerring extraordinarily low prices on Cannondale, Specialized, Trek and Cervelo bikes. The site, under the name 'webikes.com' has since been pulled down, but not before this silly ******* lost $3,600.

Now, as dumb as it appears on the surface, underneath runs methodical cunning. This scam-bag was liasing daily via email and answering bike-spec related questions as eloquently as any LBS - even to the point where he was adjusting inividual prices on his "stock" regarding wheel upgrades etc.

So yeah, although I wouldn't fall for this type of thing some folken, evidently, do. I've done a little searching for this *****, and it appears his scam template turns up regularly under frequently changing addresses.

Spread the word, because naive dummies have feelings too. If it seems too good to be true...well, you know.

There was some discussion about this guy on mtbr.com last year
(http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=348743) & mtbdirt.com.au a month
ago after it popped up under the new name of webikes.

One chap on mtbdirt posted this -

"They were displaying an e-trust authentication banner on their site so I
e-mailed e-trust to enquire about it.
This is what they sent back........

WeBikes.com is not certified by us and has never even applied to
be certified by us (it's not like they had a certification and it
expired). We recommend not doing business with them. If they're making
fraudulent representations in their privacy policy about being cretified,
theres a greater chance that they can't be trusted with your money.

Thanks for alerting us of the unauthorized claims they're making so we
can try to get it removed from their site."
