Remember the Kenyan cyclists who were over for the Commonwealth Games and trained on the hard
shoulder of the motorway? Well on the way to work along the M8 this morning I saw someone who'd
obviously decided to have a go at this motorway cycling too. This was just after J2 on the M8, after
it crosses the River Almond.
He seemed to be kitted out like a "normal" cyclist, i.e. he didn't look like some daftie who didn't
have a clue. I didn't get much of a look at his face in the mirror (well you don't at 70 mph do
you?), but he looked fairly old from what I saw, so this may have partly explained why he was there.
He was making fairly decent progress though!
I pulled in at the next emergency phone and the police said they already had a car on the way. I
think they called it a tacho-car, so maybe they wanted to get him for speeding ;-) I didn't ring to
get him nicked, I just felt that he'd be safer if he was given a lift somewhere less motorway-like.
