Hello, all,

I just got some Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels and since they do not have inner spoke holes I was wondering what the consensus is on whether or not rim tape should be installed. I have two roles of Velox and I can use that or not, or I thought I may just snip off the part that goes over the valve stem so there is some protection around that, then leave the rest of the wheel without the rim tape.

I don’t know whether installing the tape would protect the tube or if this is even necessary without the inner spoke holes so I would appreciate any advice or experience that anyone has.

If it makes any difference the tires I am using will be Conti Gator Hardshell folding, 700x25

Thanks

The rim tape's function is to protect the TUBE from the ends of the nipples and/or from the edges of un-eyelet'd spoke holes ...

Since your rims lack both, presuming there are no rogue burrs which should be removed, you do not need to install the rim tape.
