I am new here, I joined to read the posts of anti-LA. which i think are all hilarious. but let's face the fact, he trains harder than anyone, he's actually tested more than anyone which all come up negative, and he's won the most TDF, im gonna say that again, he's won the MOST TOUR DE FRANCE's of anyone, ever. and all six of them in a row. watch the sportscentury on him and you'll see why his years after cancer are different from before, when u go through cancer it completely changes who you are, physically, mentally, he became more driven, completely grateful he's still alive. i love the line, "What am I on? I'm on my bike 6 hours a day working my ass off. What are you on?" those who bash LA, just admit it, you're pissed off an american has won your super bowl, an american is considered the greatest ever at your event. yes that was pointed at the french who make up most of his critics. face the fact, he may not be in you mind the greatest cyclist ever, but in my mind he is, a record like he has set is up there w/ some of the greatest dynasties ever. but in my mind, he is the greatest, until someone shows they work as hard as he has, has gone thru what he's gone thru, and has won six TDF's in a row, i will say he is the greatest cyclist ever.

    now let the bashing begin
    (of me and LA)

but i really hope i get some LA appreciaiton also

I'd say taking all three major jerseys in the same race makes someone the greatest at the event, that is domination.

I am a fan of LA's accomplishments, however wouldnt say that he is the greatest cyclist ever. Try "Greatest tour de france winner ever" .

Thats more accurate. Merckx is the greatest cyclist ever:

5 times giro winner (3 in the same year as the tour)
5 times tour de france winner
    3 times paris nice winner
    7 times milan-san remo winner
    3 times paris roubaix
    5 times liege winner

Good LUCK matching him. Armstrong doesnt come even close to his achievements. He has never even competed in 2 major tours a year, Merckx competed in all THREE, and won 2 of them 4 times in the same year.

Sorry, but i tire of the world's perception that Lance is better than living legends such as merckx, indurain, etc.. Better at competing in one event? Yes. Cycling in general? No.

it is obvious that the only thing we can conclude about Lance is that he has won the most TDFs. that is what he and his team have wanted to do and have done. I don't think he ever wanted to be the greatest rider of all-time. if he did he would have ridden a lot more races. Lance is a "tour specialist" and was lucky to find a team with the money to allow him to be one. if he was racing at another time or for another team I don't think he could have won the tour, or at least not 6 times. being an American with a big money American sponsor has to do as much with his success as his legs.
