Walsh's book more or less concludes that Landis intervention after he got busted, was the beginning of the end for Armstrong.

Landis put the entire matter out there for all to see and he was prepared to hold anything back in terms of what had gone on at Discovery/USPS.

Lance is just being Lance. No one can't really be suprised at his chosen format for this 'tell-all', right? Very much par for his course, and all too predictable...
Like his Tour victories, so contrived and the outcome just a forgone conclusion. Things will change somewhat though when the Feds and European authorities get thrown into his 'tell-all' mix.

Lance will be just fine because, as I pointed out earlier, he will continue to get 'glad-handed' by the professional (aka "paid") media in North America. For sure, Oprah won't be throwing any 'curve balls' at Lance - strictly 80mph 'fastballs' right over the plate. Bloggers, 'underground' journalists, European writers and pundits will continue to crucify him, but, and even more importantly, LA still has the significant potential to generate income on this continent, and as such he will not easily become pariah-esque like his contemporaries Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, or Ben Johnson. Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens are doing just fine, thank you. Probably not Hall of Fame material anymore, but they're able to still continue making a living in the sports that they cheated within.

If you stand to make people money, either with fame or infamy, people will ALWAYS be your friend and leave the welcome mat out for you. Politics and capitalism at its finest, and worst.

So he did meet with the USADA as late as December 2012 in the hope that some sort of confession would gain him re-admittance to competitive sport.

Very interesting.

I think he'll handle it exactly as well as he did acting in "Dodgeball", which is to say he'll think that he put on an amazing, heart rending display of contrition wrought with the pain of a crushed soul. Meanwhile, viewers will respond in the same they did to his performance in "Dodgeball", which is to say they'll think, "What the fΨck was that?"

I have a feeling this is going to be a catastrophe.

I don't think enough time has passed for him to really face himself and from what I have read there has been no professional involvement (ie.counseling) to assist him in doing so. It took 30 some odd years to create his own illusion of himself, it is going to take longer than 3 months of self reflection for Lance to truly address his own character flaws with any authenticity.

I suspect he will come off saying "doping was part of the sport and he had to keep it all up to protect the foundation and help find a cure for cancer which I think is really going to hang him for not stepping up to his own issues. He might even go so far as to say "who cares if a silly bike race was compromised these are children, mothers, fathers dying of cancer we are trying to save"

I hope I am wrong and there are a lot of tears but I don't see it coming

This is going to be a battle royale of "integrity/truth" vs "death from cancer".

I'll take truth!

Hmmm, this angle hadn't occurred to me - Lance victimized by the demonic Oprah. Intriguing storyline.
As it appears, this idea of deflecting criticism from Lance and onto Oprah is gaining more and more traction in several other cycling forums. Novel thought, and well played by Armstrong fans...
