Lapierre

I'm looking for something that i can ride for some long miles, and I've got some great ideas off this forum. I've been looking at a couple bikes, but a buddy of mine called me today and told me about a great deal he can get for me on a 2006 Lapierre 981. When he told me what I could get this bike for, I had to take a second look. Problem is, I can't find any info on them.

I've heard of Lapierre, and I know they're big in Europe, but the only reviews I can find are on their top-end race bike (a cyclingnews.com article on the 999 Race Team bike). Anyone know anything about the 981? Geometry, pictures, good for long distance? Anything?

I just had a google search, I found their website easy enough but they only listed 2007 bikes. There is a 990 scandium model, maybe it's similar to that one.

But they are classy looking bikes though. I'll keep looking

One of our LBS has one of their scandium frame on sale. It's amazingly light.

I cannot comment on the model you are referring to, but lapierre ia well known and reputable frame maker which has also sponsored pro teams in the recent past.
