Laterally Adjustable BB

mate up with the fixed cog. I haven't tried it yet with the freewheel
side yet (I figure that's not as critical)

I don't have enough thread available on the adjustable cup to consider
using a fixed cup spacer -- there's less than 1mm of free thread
showing beyond the lockring (got that?). Using only 1 1mm spacer
won't be sufficient for my needs.

Since you're talking about getting a new BB anyway, why not just get
one with a spindle length that works?

One possible route: Get an old-achool 73mm BB with the same spindle
length, and you can shim it as much as 5mm.

The Miche sealed track BB is inexpensive and has two flangeless
adjustable cups. Typicaly it's in the $30 range. Places that sell a lot
of track type stuff will probably have it in stock.

You do not have the appropriate spindle.
Try moving the ring to the other position [1] or flipping
the asymmetric spindle over [2], else get the proper length
spindle.
[1] looks dorky, I know.
[2] may not help
