great videos! the 92 clip brought back some fond memories of that tour. it was the last year we got to see a lot of the greats from the previous decade come out in good form. roche had a great tour, hampsten won the biggest stage of his life, fignon won, delgado and bernard blew that race apart for indurain. great stuff.

I met Fignon in the toilet of the Carrick Hotel in Carrick on Suir in December 1994.

Fignon/Hinault/Merckx/Alcala/Da Silva and whole bunch of other pros were over for Sean kelly's last ever race.

Fignon had been trying to chat up my wife in the bar at the after race function.
He said "is she your wife, you're a very lucky man if she is".
I told him to ******** with his charming French ways.
In fairness, he laughed about it.

Funny memory thinking about it now.

True? What an great story! Reminds me that at the end of life's road, it's the kind of stuff that makes you look back and laugh about it.

For those of you who have read Fignons book - does Fignon discuss Hinault?

He actually writes in a surprisingly reverential way about Hinault in his book!

Nice to see that Eurosport ran a tribute to Fignon before the live coverage of yesterdays stage.

Indeed, he was very respectful and came across as rather fond of the Badger.
