Spouse caught something on the news last
night about some yobbos putting a line
across the bike path that runs along the
freeway here that offed a rider. Anyone
know more about this?

The dark ages cometh...

naah, just some moron that watches one of theose pommy cop shows on the
ABC. they did the de-cap motor cyclists trick again on inspector barnaby
and thick-side-kick again.

It was funny actually because they played the scence about three times
and by then it was exceedingly clear that if was a fake head ontop of a
real head; very, very, deep shoulders.

I am unable to parse your comment. Are you saying the report was that the
perps that ran over a rider put an arrow on the bike path pointing to the
spot in the road where the rider was run down? Or what?

The same thing was done on a bike path just near my house. About a foot off the ground so the cyclist who hit it came off his bike... don't think his injuries were too bad. It's just a ****ing stupid thing to do.

Similar thing occured recently on the Upfield path here in Melbourne. The authorities, local newspapers & council were contacted et al. The fcuktards responsible should be strung up by their goolies. If they had any fer starters...

OK, so I'm not a humanities major...

The (garbled) story I got was that so youths put a rope
(or wire or twine or string or cable or...) across a
bike path in Perth somewhere. This caused a rider to come
of his/her bike. Said rider apparently noticed a car speed
off with 4(?) laughing yobbos in it. I have been unable to
find out any more about this story. Spouse now has reservations
about me heading out on my bike.

Hope this makes more sense....

Haha, yeah. Sorry, was partly just teasing, though couldn't figure out what
'line' was, but now I do. Hope it stops happening. Stay safe out there!

No problem - I'm just glad I didn't use the word
"guy" instead of "line", that could have lead to
all sorts of confusion...

Not alot more.
It was a piece of fencing wire so the guy was bloody lucky. He was doing
about 40 kph at the time he hit it and the wire broke!
Bunch of yobbos were seen driving off laughing after the incident in a white
Mitsubishi Lancer.
I didn't catch where it occured, but it looked like it was somewhere past
Beeliar drive (heading south) near all the new housing development.

I am totally unable to comprehend why anyone would think this would be an
acceptable prank (assuming that is what they thought, assuming they had the
capacity for thought). It's just bloody dangerous!! I mean what do they
think? "Hey lets go out and see if we can kill someone or at least
seariously injure them, yeah that will be a great lark". Just like throwing
rocks at cars.

Ok...from my fuzzy recollection...

It was fencing wire, seemed to be two strands of #8 twisted together.
It said "near Jandakot" but I don't really know south enoguh to
identify the area from the footage. The hoons were in a white sigma.
The guy claimed to have been training for the busselton ironman, but
had some clusterfsck clipon aerobar attachment fitted on a standard
road bike and in the "reenactment" footage was riding his bike wearing
bogan tracky pants, a t-shirt and old sneakers on what looked like flat
pedals.

Still, although he seemed shaken and p*ssed off (very understandably)
he also seemed unhurt (very luckily).

Cheers

Shitabrick. I've regularly ridden that stretch of bike path - it's
good for getting into a bit of a rhythm as there aren't many
interruptions for many kms. I used to think it was safe....

"OK, so I'm not a humanities major... "

says the man who regularly finishes the Australian's Cryptic Crossword

gumby
B.A., B. Comms (Hons)
....and doesn't get more than five clues I fscking hate cryptic
crosswords

Last nights Chanel Number Nein had the report
The white Lancer was identified because four YOOFS in said conveyance
shouted some garbled abuse at the cyclist.
Looking at the footage the fencing wire line was joined in the middle
of the path, there appeared to be some kind on knotted junction, which
leads me to make the outrageous proposition that the cyclist got off
lightly, if it had been a continuous line across the path, more mayhem
may have ensued.

Happened at 7pm Tuesday near Beeliar.

If it was a true report, other news outlets will also carry it.
you could also ring the police and verify it.

Failing that, "well I suppose I could stay at home and turn into a fat
******* hogging the remote control for the tellie. won't do much for the
love life either dear".

I found something similar happening late last year on the cyclepath just
north of Beeliar Drive, Gateway . I happened to be the first cyclist
there and on a recumbent so I rode under it, stopped and backtracked to
rip the line off the trees and path. So the locals are hillbillies.

I guess the answer is to ride on the road and slow down traffic, if we
are being deterred from using cycle paths.

Except that bicycles are prohibited on the freeway so there is no option
at the place this occurred.
