local bike shop put an SRAM 991 mtb chain on my road bike...

There is no such thing as a "MTB chain" or a "road chain." It is a 9 speed chain, which will work with either 9 speed MTB's, or 9 speed road bikes.


In other words...your shop knows what they are doing and you will be fine!
