Bought a big very well made cycle(from the brazing and detail it looked hand built) from a lost &
stolen auction about four years ago and it must have been at least three or four years old then. It
was incredibly stout and just right for the 'roads' in Latvia despite the penalty of its weight.

I left it there intending to go back to complete some exploration and it was stolen in a break in.
Now I have to replace it and my insurers will want detail before replacement . . .

It was definitely a 'Lonsdale' it said that in big letters but whether that was the maker or the
model I'm not sure. It was of the early 'mountain bike' type with strength rather than
sophistication and was clearly built with wide tyres and rims (alloy) from new.

Does anyone know who made these and where and if they are still in business - or, indeed, anything
else about this make / model. I've done the usual key word searches but with no decisive result so I
guess it's a matter of folk memory now!

    Thanks in anticipation, Lurch
