I'm getting ready to roll out for a ride and look who's in my driveway, Diamond Dave. This is our first ride of 2019 together and it's great to hook up with old friends. He already had 12 miles in his legs and was headed home so I joined him on his route home, and then went off on my owe. Oh ya right after I stopped a the bike shop for some new water bottles.

Yesterday I was going to do the first Paradise Dr. Ride which circles Tiburon on the Marin Peninsula. Unfortunately my friend hasn't been riding and I though I was taking it easy but apparently I was dropping him like a rock. On the rather mild climb up Camino Alto, I was slowing down to 10 and 11 mph and I would stop every 5 minutes or so and he would be a minute or more behind. That's what happens when you've taken up stock trading - you can't go out for a second during trading hours. And this year it has been too cold or rainy to go out in the evening.

What was supposed to be a 60 mile ride turned out to be half of that with the final half up to the Golden Gate Bridge a horror story for him. Hope that he doesn't get put off cycling. That sort of thing really turns a lot of people off from cycling. Getting passed by obvious rookies who are moving twice as fast as you are.
