Hey guys, newbie here,
Just started to get series about biking about 6 months ago but about a month ago my bike got stolen. I had a Diamondback insight 1 and I really liked it, but now i am in the market for a new bike and I am leaning towards a little more of an actual road bike, if there is something particularly nice though I still like performance hybrids. Price is $400 range, pretty cheap but then again it is a starter. Mainly going to be riding on pavement and bike/walking trail.
Thanks

If you want road worthy, but also for use on light trails, then a Cyclocross bike is the ticket. Its a road that's a little more rugged and with a more upright riding position, but can still be fast on the road if you want to be.
Check out the SPECIALIZED TRICROSS series, although you may be hard press to find one within you're budget. They start out at around $1000 brand new.

+1 on the used bike. You can get a pretty good used bike for $400. I'd buy it from a bike shop because they will usually stand behind bikes they sell, even the used bikes.
