Hello,

I am looking forward to getting a Kona Jake or a Mongoose
Randonneur but I haven't been able to find any shop in
Sydney that have either. One of the reasons is that I just
moved in Sydney, so I don't really know many bicycle
shops. I would love to hear from suggestions on places I
can call or visit, as well as about other bicycles similar
to those two.

Thanks!

I inquired about the Kona Jake at the start of the year and was told that they don't import it to Oz. :(

Alot of flatbar road(ish) bikes have similar geometry and make a good alternative. You could always get the bike shop to change the handlebars to drops for a bit extra cost.

I live in Melbourne so I can't help you on bike shops. If you grab a yellow pages directory though most of the bike shops listed advertise the brand of bike they sell.

I've seen a few people riding the Mongoose
Randonneur and it looks like a nice bike. It got a good review in Australian Cyclist as well: http://www.australiancyclist.com.au/showarticle.php?s=4&a=433

A list of similar bikes around $1k to check out:

Giant Perigee
Specialized Sequoia and Sirrus
Kona Dew series
Trek 1200 flatbar
Avanti Blade
Gary fisher utopia
Jamis Coda
