looking for a recreation bike, please help

so its summer time and i need to stay in shape so ive decided that a bike will be my best bet in doing that. im not looking for anything fancy, something under $250. i plan to use the bike for mostly riding on trails like the burke gilman which is paved.

Buy a Giant Upland or Boulder and fit some slicks.
