So I live in Manhattan, and am looking for a cheap, quality bike that I can ride to work. I don't want a road bike though, because I want something durable enough to be able to hit a few potholes or dirt roads with no problem. Any advice on this matter would be great

I'm considering buying this bike off craig's list for $100. It's a Specialized Hardrock sport (supposedly), at least a few years old. If anyone could ID it (year?) and/or tell me if it's a good choice, that would also be alot of help. Thanks!

the same as with most large cities. assume your bicycle will get stolen if you are having it for over a year. so not spending much is a good idea. craigslist is a good option, i got a fixed gear of there and rode it in boston until it was stolen. oh well was only 60 dollars.

bike looks fine. maybe look for a road bike though...since you are only riding on the road it makes more sense.
