I look at a lot of the suggestions on these sites and see quite a bit of outdated info and some that can hurt you. The first thing when starting any new sport is to get information from knowledgeable people. It will save a lot of pain and suffering.

It amazes me how many people will spend thousands on bikes and equipment and not spend $20 to $40 for a good book to save a lot of pain and suffering. Get a good book and start there.
