I am looking at purchasing an entry level road bike for weekend rides with a neighbor. I have read that either a Raleigh Cadent 1.0, or a Giant OCR 3, might be good choices and that both are around 650.00. I am about 6'1''. Thanks.

Can't go past Felt, for marginally more cost far superior bike and components!

I had an OCR2 a while ago - they are a good solid bike with a good reputation. I think they only come in a few sizes though???

I would also consider the Specialized Allez and the Trek 1000 (MSRP for both is $710). Raleigh, like Schwinn, was a good brand 20 years ago, but today, I would look at entry level bikes from Cannondale, Giant, Felt, Specialized, Trek, LeMond, and Klein before Raleigh, Schwinn, GT, or Motobocane.

Just bought a used (2001) OCR 3 yesterday, as a matter of fact. Love the bike!! Relaxed geometry, etc.

Yeah, it's got SORA components, but I'm just dipping my toe back into cycling, and can't justify spending $700-900 on something that may just sit in my garage after a month.

    Good luck,

    Tom
