I am currently working with an athlete that does not do well during the timed tests, therefore, we do a MAP test.

It allows me to give him a little bit of "motivation" while he is trying to complete his test and also allows him to finish the test sooner, well sooner than the 20 minute test, anyway.

A wrong testing protocol could be one reason that this athlete does 115% NP of his FTP for an hour.

By all means, I am not telling you how to do your job, but just trying to give you a different way to look at things...
