I've met her, so I know she exists... just not on a unicycle. Best way
to meet her is to stay at Tommy's in Memphis. She is one of the best
and most gracious host's I have had the pleasure of meeting. Oh and he
has a daughter and son that unicycle. Good luck seeing them as well.:D

Bill, we will arrive no later than 5-ish. I'm hoping for 3-ish.

What a fantastic way to celebrate a birthday!! Her maiden MUni
Rendezvous! Very few can say that.

Oh, and I'll vouch for Tommy's wife. She teaches levitation to Muggles.
Grandmaster 2T teaches levitation to Unicyclists. What a match.

I talked with Charles Tuesday evening. He is NOT camping this weekend.
He always has a stove and brings sausage for breakfast.

Anybody out there (other than T-max) have a stove that might be
available?

Is anyone planning to bring sausage/bacon for breakfasts?

Current weather forecast looks like weekend high temperatures in the low
to mid 80's with summer humidity and a chance for thunderstorms. Lows in
the 60's.

Definitely warmer than our trip to Huntsville last month.

If anyone is interested, it looks like there is a swimming pool at Otter
Creek Park. I could not find the business hours on the web site though.

I plan to be at Otter Creek Park between 5pm and 6pm on Friday.

I hope everybody makes it home safely. Needless to say, here I am. I got
the car unloaded and just dumped everything on the floor. It will be
there in the morning. I plan to be in bed early tonight.

It was a great trip. Lot's of riding (and walking for me). Fun to meet
with new and old uni-friends. More updates later.

I made home in fine form, delivered the South Memphis MUCsters and even
had a chance to enjoy dinner in the 95 degrees (Welcome back to the
Delta!).

What an incredible weekend I had! It is always wonderful to re-connect
with my uni-buddies and to make new uni-friends. Bill, you are doing
some great things up there in Pennsylvania. The folks that you
introduced us to and have brought into our uni-circle are wonderful.
Bob and Donna, thanks for making the long drives from Chicago and Dallas
and sharing your weekend with us. Eddie, you've got to bring those folks
from East Tennessee with you the next time. They would have SUCH a
blast!

The Otter Creek Park was a wonderful choice for a gathering. Memphis
Mud did a great job of pulling this shindig together. The riding was
fabulous. The wonderful trails through an enchanted forest, overlooking
the Ohio River at times, was just one of many reasons that this weekend
was well worth the 6 hours of driving from Memphis. Perfect weather,
fantastic pot-luck meals, ... and the list goes on. PERFECT!

Two-thumbs up on this gathering!

Where next? I want to do another "Black Mountain Breakdown" ride near
Crossville, TN. and get those Atlanta Unicycle Club slackers to join
us!

With the exception of being beat up by Eddy;) , the Black Mountain
weekend has been one of my favorite trips. We defenitely need to go
back again.

I would say that NAUCC will be the next trip. That is going to be
slammin fun. Hope to see a lot of you there as well.

Glad to hear it was a good weekend. I had to stay home and earn some
money so I can keep playing. I also rode on Sunday about 7.5 miles,
Reid rode at leat 11 miles and Jeffrey the track prodigy road 12.5 easy
miles. I have more muscle soreness from that short ride, than I did
from the 31 miler I did a couple of weeks ago. I must have pushed
harder to keep up with Jeffrey and Reid... but I digress.

Glad to hear that you guys had a good trip. Look forward to a full
report and some pictures.

Thanks to everyone who came. Those drives can be a lot. But that's the
only way we can ride with MUniers from Chicago, Memphis, Dallas,
Pennsylvania, East TN.

Great Pot-Lucks. Fun to meet new enthusiasts. The new riders and kids
were amazing.

A fantastic Muni Rendezvous. Otter Creek has some great trails. We found
easy, intermediate, hard and ridiculous trails. Every rider was able to
ride at least some of the time. Those who hiked also enjoyed and
challenged themselves. Nice little river too (Creek I suppose). How nice
that the swimmin' hole was situated at the 1/2way point in an arduous
MUni ride. Many of us took as rejouvinating dip before finishing the
last of the 8 mile loop. The people at the park were all very receptive
and friendly.

Joyce deftly handled a passenger-front flat tire at interstate speeds on
our ride home. Fortunately, she was riding with a grease monkey and we
only had to endure 20 minutes of Tractor-trailor wind concussions. And
try to find someone to fix a flat at 630 on Sunday nite... So we rode
the donut home at 55 mph.

More later, catching up at work now.

But once again, thanks to all who made the trek to Louisville. It made
for a great mix.

Tom.

Whoa! T-Max, sorry to hear about your tire troubles enroute home.
Pretty scary stuff. Joyce has nerves of steel. Don't forget to remind
her of her pledge to MUni.

It was a great weekend! AND... ours lasted another day longer than
everyone else. Had a vehicle breakdown just outside of Louisville and
had to stay overnight and all day Monday to get it repaired. Got home
at 12:30 am Monday night, (officially Tuesday morning). LONG weekend.

I'll post a few comments on the weekend and details about the breakdown
in a day or two. Gotta go to uni club practice.

Bill, I hate to hear that. We loved the mansion. Hope it was relatively
minor.

BTW on Tuesday I found a tiny little tick imbedded in my hip. I had
checked head to toe in Louisville. But this is one tiny tick. Dang thang
looks all the world like a Deer Tick. I'm googling "Lyme Disease".

On maiden MUni trip for KH24, it was like floating on a cloud. 100%
satisfied.

So here's the scoop on our adventure home:

Had a late start leaving the campground since we enjoyed lunch with
Tommy, Marquis and Denzel (hope I spelled Tommy right). Then we enjoyed
lunch with the Maxwells. Plenty of food left over from the weekend. We
fired up the RV and headed out. All was working well... until we
travelled about 100 miles, then it sputtered a few times and died. We
pulled off the highway onto an off ramp. It wouldn't start despite
mulitple attempts. We started to think of options and while doing so
gave the engine a chance to sit for a while in hopes that the fuel
filter might be clogged and the sediment would settle and then the
engine would start. Wishful thinking?

Good news: Yes, it did start up and ran fine. Back onto the
interstate.
Bad news: It only ran for another 10 minutes, then sputtered and
stalled.
Good news: A state trooper stopped to check on us and see what was up.
He gave us a suggestion for towing (if needed) and a mechanic a few
miles down the road.
Bad news: He was a nice guy, but didn't offer to help pay for the
towing.
Good news: After another 15 - 20 minutes, it started and ran just fine.
Back onto the interstate. Less optimistic this time.
Bad news: You got it, stalled again, this time we barely got off the
road due to the guard rail. Lots of traffic going really fast!
Good news: We didn't get hit by any trucks. The generator kept running
so we sat along side the interstate with the AC running for the RV.
After a few short breaks, it didn't start, then started and sputtered us
part the guard rail and further off the road.
Bad news: Looks like we have have a major problem, can't see driving
home for another 300 miles by stopping for 20 minutes after 10 minutes
of driving.
Good news: A gentleman stopped to offer assistance, offered a ride or
to go down the road to see if the upcoming towing company was open.
Bad news: It was Sunday, 5:30 pm. No mechanics or parts stores are
open.
Good news: It started up again and we drove to the next exit. got off
and had dinner at a local restaurant. Called the towing/mechanic and
asked for help.
Bad news: They can help us, but not until the morning. No parts
available until Monday.
Good news: The RV started up after dinner and got us to a campground 8
miles away. Enjoyed another night in Kentucky. Next morning the RV
started and drove us to the garage.
Bad news: They took off the gas filter, it was clogged, waited another
hour to get a filter from parts store and installed it. The RV would
not start. The pump stopped working!
Good news: Tank and some of the bolts were rusty, but all came off okay
and the pump was pulled out. New pump is available and is ready for
pick up.
Bad news: The pump is in Cinncinnati, 1 hour away.
Good news: Everyone, including my 8 yr old daughter were very patient.
We spent the whole day under metal carport that was on display at the
garage. Nick and I got in over 4 hours of juggling. Did some passing,
played "Can you do this?", etc, etc.
Bad news: Repairs were not done until 5:30 pm.
Good news: It fired up and ran like a champ. REady to head home.
Bad news: Thye expected me to pay for the parts and labor! A little
over $800
Good news: No problems for the rest of the trip home. Got home at
12:30 at night.

The end of a great adventure! We had a good time on the trip, the
riding was great and Otter Creek Park was beautiful. Good choice Tom!
Thanks for organizing the trip!
