  1. Lurked here about 6 years ago, when I lost 40 lbs on lc (only to put it back
    +)

I've been on an induction carb level for over three weeks, and have only
dropped from 290 to 282. No loss in last week.

47 yr Male - otherwise good health. 10 mg/daily Lipotor (big surprise).
Exercising 3x week - 45min-1 hr on ellipitical, some weights.

    6'1" - 290/282/190

    Ketostix in consistently Moderate range.

Normal daily food intake consists of following:

Breakfast - 1/4lb of lean cold cut (turkey, ham), or can of tuna or nova -
eggs have nauseated me since I was a kid. Sometimes with 1 oz cheese (> 1
    gm carb per serving)

Lunch - Romaine with Grilled chicken or 1/4 - 1/2 cold cuts or 1 scoop tuna
salad, shredded cheese. Caesar or Ranch dressing - 2-3 tbsp max

Dinner - 1/2 roasted chicken (Costco or Boston Market size) or 1/2 medium
sized steak plus maybe 1 McDs Double Cheeseburger only onions, no bun (if
I'm hungry on the way home). SF Jello for dessert. Sometimes another
    salad.

    Drinking sufficient water.

Evening snack - 1 oz. prepackaged cheddar cheese.

    Coffee (black w/ sweet n' low) 4-5 cups/day.

In the 3+ weeks, not one cookie, spoon of ice cream, french fry, General
Tso's or other bad food. Not even any "lo carb" sweets, Atkins bars, etc.

Good news is that the cravings are gone, especially at night, which was a
terrible problem. In the past (and probably how the weight came back, I
could equal my daily intake again after 9PM). I feel empowered that food
has become a much less important part of my daily life.

Was taking Metamucil as part of diet til a week ago (label shows 0 net
carbs - but ingredients show Maltodextrin).

To jump start - I will switch to oil and vinegar on salad, and cut down size
of dinner portions. I can't think of anything else that I am doing "wrong".
When I lost the weight 6 yrs ago, I probably dropped 20-25 lbs in the first
    month.

Yes - my pants feel noticably looser, but I would have hoped the weight loss
would have been in the 15lb range by now.

    That's my story...

Hard to say why it's slower this time. What was your carb intake like before you
started low-carbing this time around? If your carb level was already relatively
low in the weeks before you started, you may have ALREADY lost the water weight
that is part of the usually dramatic initial loss. I'm not sure of the side-
effects of Lipitor, so I won't address that other than to say it could be causing
you to either a) retain water, or b) it had ALREADY caused you to lose water so
there wasn't as much to lose to begin with. There's also the fact that you are
simply older now and it may be harder to lose weight as quickly because of that.
Rather than cutting back on fat, you might try to INCREASE it. Cutting back on
    fat while low-carbing is counter-productive.

I understand your frustration -- I lose VERY slowly. Just hang in there and stay
    the course!

  3. When I had a chicken only last two days, I stayed the same weight.

When I got three meals out of a chicken, I began to lose weight.

I just got 4 meals out of my last chicken and feel fine.

I was told years ago that caffeine can stall you in induction. I know
that my husband had to go back through induction a second time without
coffee. Also have you tried atkins' stacking formula? I won't do it
but I've heard a lot of good testimony.
