    Hi,

I own two early 70s Paramounts, a 1971 road and a 1973 touring. The 1973 has Marac Racer centerpull brakes that do not have a sufficient reach. The reach on these brakes is about 2.5 inches (oops, 62 mm) but it seems the reach should be about 75 mm. Were the Weinmann centerpull brakes that were used on Paramounts in the 70s long reach brakes.?

My 1971 has Campy NR sidepulls of the standard, normal reach of about 52 mm.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a '73 P-15 (Paramount triple, now my pool bike since it has so many repair welds I don't trust it at speed). I simply replaced the brake calipers with some low end Shimano units. BTW, Nashbar usually has decent 27" tires at under $5 each.
