Manitou Swinger 4 way air shock on an AC1?

What do you think. Putting a Manitou Swinger 4 way air shock on a Giant AC1.
I do only XC, no jumps or stunts. I have a Rock Shox Pro Deluxe rear shock
that works ok. Just looking to make it a little light and trail worthy. I
think it would work, but what do I know. Plus might try stans tubless w/2.0
or 2.1 tires. It does work good as an all mountain bike, within reason. I
don't want to go back to coil.

These bikes flex under pedal load and don't have a very long life span, save
the cash and get a new bike.

1st I heard of the AC1 with a short life span. That may be true if one rides
the **** out of it. But I don't ride the **** out of it.Considering I had
the bike since 2002 and used it for trail riding only. It's given me lots of
use so far. I'm sure I will not have to worry about it having a short life
span. As far as pedal flex, I've never noticed any at all. But I'm no pedal
masher. My next bike will be a Giant Trance or a Turner Flex, but I'm
leanning towards a Turner 5 Spot. Till then the AC1 will be my main ride.
Hence the question of the Manitu Swinger 4 way air. I ride light and right.

I had an AC1 with a swinger air 4-way on it for a while. It worked very
well. I liked the shock a lot. Never leaked air. Low maintenance.

Thats good news. Do you still have the AC1, or have you moved on to
something different.

It was a loaner, after I broke my Cannondale I was rideless for a
couple of weeks until I got all the parts I needed for my Joker.
FWIW, I felt faster on the AC. Better frame geom for me. The joker is a
wierd beast. I'm glad it's dead :) I'm on a kona coiler now, much happier.

Kona makes a nice bike. The coiler looks to be one fun machine. Thanks for
the info.
