Manolo Saiz arrested

Hey, where is WADA? This is the sort of thing they are supposed to be fighting. Mr. Pound is being uncharacteristically quiet...

Perhaps they should stop worrying about what happened in 1999, and start looking at what's going on in 2006.

WADA ? what about the UCI ?

The UCI say there hands are tied:

"It is very frustrating for us in particular who want to do something, who want to sanction riders once they need sanctioning, and want to get rid of riders like this out of the sport, that at this moment in time our hands are tied behind our backs,"

But the CSD (The Spanish Sport Superior Council) say:

"a total collaboration with UCI as well as with the World Anti-Doping Agency"

and

"disclosed all available information on Operación Puerto to the UCI" and that "representatives of the Spanish Civil Guard attended the mentioned meeting that took place at the CSD in order to pass on the most possible data."

Seems like the UCI is up to its old tricks again.... denial ! :)

his issues arn't going away!

Eufemiano Fuentes, Manolo Saiz and others face trial on public-health charges

The slow wheels of Spanish justice have finally ground forward with a trial for seven people linked to the Operación Puerto blood doping ring dating back to 2006. According to a statement released Tuesday, Madrid’s Superior Court said that sports doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, ex-Liberty Seguros sport director Manolo Saiz and five others arrested by Spain’s Guardia Civil in May 2006 will face charges of endangering public health and face possible jail terms of up to two years.

Thanks for posting this update, ambal.

Wow, this case has been very very slow moving and it looks like the Spanish authorities while not being able to bring charges in the main case have decided to go after the culprits in another way, I presume?
