Hi All, I am planning a personal fund raising event/ride in August. I am planning on riding from Connecticut to Maine. I am thinking of doing this over a 3-4 day span.
As far as planning a route, what are some of the ways to plan a safe, somewhat predictable route? Obviously trying to avoid lots of traffic.
I didnt know if mapmyride would really give me the best/safest route.
I have posted many routes throughout New England at my site, Bike New England . In the Navigation bar are links to cycling routes in each state, as well as the official state cycling routes when available. The Connecticut state cycling map has been reliably good in my experience. On my site you can purchase a disk ($20) or online access ($15) to all our routes, with over 700 files including maps, cue sheets and route descriptions.
I've built a couple of new resources that make it easy to find great bike rides in New England. http://www.ridemap.info/ is an interactive map page showing the exact locations of club rides, tours, fundraising rides, and other well-vetted rides, especially in the eastern massachusetts area. Click on the little cyclist images, and they take you to the page for that ride at cyclingnewengland.blogspot.comcyclingnewengland.blogspot.comOpen ↗.
