Completed my first map test with a PT on stationary trainer. found it difficult to consistently stay within the 10 watt increases. Would I be better off using avg power for the test instead, it seems easier to keep with the required zones . Hopefully some of this will make sense

just average the last minute achieved. Low wattage's are generally hard to stay controlled as are the last ones:D

What sort of ramp were you using? This is the MAP test we do:
Understanding Power

where ramp is 20-25W/min to exhaustion and MAP is mean maximal 1-minute power from this test.
