This week I was given a "Marlyn Mixte" to restore.

Anyone out there familiar with this bike?

Pix later...

Update: One of the local vintage cycling chaps looked at the bike and said it is a Phillips Frame. :)

The ladies bike is rebuilt, Pix attached.

One of the Historical guys had a look at it and the Bike it is a Marlyn Mixte from the 1960s, assembled in Melbourne on an English Phillips (Raleigh) Frame.

On his advice I have left the paint original.

The Wheels were rebuilt on Shimano Hubs:
3 speed coaster rear
HiFlange front
Stainless Steel Spokes
The original rims were sandblasted and powder coated silver.
Tyres are new Duro medium pressure 26x1 3/8.

Headset and bottom bracket were also serviced,
All the old chrome was sandblasted and powder coated silver.
New inner and outer shifter cable.
New Bell.
New Grips

Costs to date, $157, so I will try for $200 in the Sunday Times. :D

Those seat springs are beauties:)
I think you would have to set it up nose down if a big momma buys it :D
Little Jackie on the other hand might be launched into orbit if she hit a decent pot hole

Bike Sold!! :)

Bought by a guy to ride to work. ;)
He has a real appreciation of vintage bikes..

Hi, I have a similar question. A friend has given me what he claims is a Marlyn to sell for him on ebay. It has good spec but no way of identifying it. i,e. nothing on the frame. You show me your (pics) and i'll show you mine?

No not the Marlyn, but there were a lot of mixte frames built. Cannot wait to see the pics?

Hi,
I'm just restoring a marlyn mixte at the moment, and can't work out what cable guides are brazed on the side of the coaster brake?
