  1. Can anyone help me find information on Mavic 8 speed components and
    compatibility. I have some old parts and cannot find technical information
    about these old components. Thanks!

    I suppose you are asking about the 800 series indexing rear deraillure. It
    and the indexed Mavic shifters are acompatible with Shimano 7 and 8 speed
    spacing.

    Taper on the crank is specifi to Mavic, but I have heard that both ISO and
    JIS can work. I used a Phil BB, 113 in length, but I don't know if it was
    JIS or ISO.

    In a word, Mavic index systems werte compatible with shimano. Same
    spacing, could use a Sachs or shimano rear derailleur.
